Summer Time

Summer is here and with it all the gardening, old fashioned family reunions and lassitude that comes with the heat. The temperature hovers around 90 every day and every day I thank all the Gods that be for air conditioning.

I have been reading a lot and re-reading some old favorites. One of my re-reads was Elizabeth George's novel A Traitor To Memory. I always marvel at how many layered her novels are. She weaves her plots with such skill.

I need to clean, my investment club meets here in a week and I need to have my hair cut and styled. Christina is a miracle worker and I need a miracle.

Jose and I have to walk early before it gets hot. He has gotten so fat because without Rex he doesn't get hardly any play time and because I have spoiled him with chicken and hamburger. Fortunately he still likes his dry food so I am cutting back on the more delicious entrees. We both need to slim down. I have no waist.

I want to see Book Club so I am going to check that out
today and we have a number of medical appointments to see to.

I'd like to replace the dead twigs in our two planters and need to buy replacement blooms from Home Depot. I am thinking of plumbago, a blue flowered bush that needs no tending. If planted in the ground, it will spread, but it won't go anywhere in the planter. Now, if I could just get to this project.

We're not quite to the summer weather yet, our nights are still in the low 40s, so the vegetables aren't growing yet. Our Last Frost Date isn't until next week, but I took a chance and set out my plants that I started from seed earlier this spring. We need to go buy some petunias from the plant center in town, and then we'll be ready for hot weather, at least when it comes to flowers.
