We have had nine sunny days this whole spring and summer!
This is not the usual Oklahoma weather. I have been able
to walk most mornings and it has been very pleasant. I
call Bobby when I get to his corner and we have an early
morning get together over coffee.
I wish that I had more space for gardening but I am raising
tomatoes in pots and a few in the ground. I was envious
of John's good black soil because we have red dirt to
work with and it requires a lot of fertilizer.
I read the lushest, most poetic book by an Arican American
author. The title is Ruby by Cynthia Bond. It will keep
you riveted to it and sorry when you reach the end.
I am taking an online course in the human genome and it
is invigorating and interests me greatly. I am glad that
I discovered it. Thinking is good and when I finish I
plan to take more courses and utilize my time better.
I am cooking more these days and using jondude's cook
book a lot. I made chocolate eclairs yesterday for my
family at their urgent request and I am working more fruits and vegetables into our diet. Fresh vegetable
stands are cropping up along the streets. Okra is a
staple in Oklahoma and Texas and we are looking forward
to having some soon. I realize it is an esoteric taste
known only to southerners.
