It is a given that attractive people have an easier life. One's path is made smoother when looks and charm are present.

Just think of what you might be missing if you make judgments on the basis of personal appearance. It is the inside person that counts. It has always struck me that we place far too much value on a genetic accident and too little on courage, intelligence and the many other qualities that make up a genuinely good friend or potential mate.

It is true that after a lot of rejection people tend to become like hedge hogs, fending off possible hurt. We really need to appreciate the inner beauty and not be so hung up on outward appearance. We just might be missing out on a good friend or a great lover.
