We have a horrible cousin by marriage who loves the limelight. She finally, at 82 got a book published so there are several on this blog that need to get busy. Susil has a book in her, I am sure. It is a true crime book about the Sirloin Stockade murders. We have always
laughed at her efforts because she is so persistent and so
obnoxious. She is having the last laugh now.
I could hardly believe my eyes when I read it in the book
review section of the Sunday paper. I immediately called my
sister and my cousin. They were flabbergasted also. If you read this Joan, her name is Emma Jean Stover.
She has self published several books of religious poetry.
She has also worked up a monologue called Dust Bowl Granny
where she appears in calico and an apron and poke bonnet.
If you don't know what a poke bonnet is, it is a calico
bonnet which covers the back of the neck and has cardboard
staves all around it to give it shape and shield the face.
My grandmother would not let us go outside without one, plus
we had to put cream (whipping cream) on our faces to protect
them from becoming tan. I am sure we were a sight to see.
Emma Jean has no shame but I am glad she finally got what
she has been looking for. I can only imagine how she must
have harrased the Oklahoma City Police Department in order
to get all the details.
I have to confess that I am just a bit jealous.
