If anyone is on a heart healthy salt free diet, I have a recipe that I like better than Mrs. Dash. It is as follows:
l tablespoon Italian seasoning
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon ground coriander seed
l tablespoon onion powder
My cardiologist is sadistic but if it gets rid of the fluid retention it will be worth it. There is a marked loss of appetite
because one does not long for unsalted food. Also you have to prepare food from scratch because there is so much sodium in canned and convenience food. I have found that carrots, sweet potatoes and bananas taste better than most, salt free. I am anxious to see how it all works out because I have avoided carbs for years. Meat is good if you saute onions and mushrooms with it as seasoning.
