They have certainly dissed us. We have an under the slab
leak in the bathroom and have to call in a leak specialist and
on top of that, yesterday the disposal started leaking in two
places. The microwave shorted out this morning so I went to
Lowes and spent more money than I wanted to on the two new
appliances. Ted is slowly trying to get the garbage disposal
fixed. He hurts badly between bouts of activity and has to
sit down and rests. He will surely be glad to see Dr. Hanson
tomorrow for a treatment.
I finally got all the laundry and unpacking done and the
cleaning is also done. It has been such a chore and I
still haven't done the bathrooms. A man from the electric
company is coming to do an energy audit tomorrow morning.
I went two weeks with perfect nails and I have been home for
two days and all my polish has peeled. I have to take our
good clothes to the cleaners and to the laundry tomorrow.
Rex is driving me beserk. Evidently he missed us more than I
thought and if I don't pay attention to him, he shoves me with
his nose and licks my legs. Not the kind of attention I like. He is worse than a toddler.
We still are not over our jet lag. We go to bed early and
get up early...way early...3 am for me and 4am for Ted this
morning. I guess we are still on Italian time.
Since I can't wash dishes, I baked a small ham and we are
eating sandwiches. I had to get groceries, all three of us
were out of food except for French Onion soup that I made
yesterday and am looking forward to eating again tomorrow.
We were a little disappointed in the French food on the ship. It was good but not as good as what you can get in
New Orleans at Brennans. The presentation was nice. I had
Dover Sole and the waiter deboned it at the table with a lot
of ceremony. They drew a pineapple tree on my plate when I
had a pineapple tart. However, I will go for taste over
presentation any time.
I have been thinking about Laura's cream cheese corn dish.
It sounds very good. I may make it tomorrow. It is very
cold and we need comfort food.
I have an Alex Delaware mystery novel to finish. I like
Jonathon Kellerman. You can always count on his books to
be interesting.
There was an interesting article in the Sunday paper about
handling stress. It was by a Dr. from India. He more or
less said to just flow through the distressing times in our
lives as best we can and not to obsess over them.
I may have told you that Sara has a job as highschool band
director in Tulsa. I am awed. Those jobs are scarce as
hens teeth now that the music and art have been slashed from
the education budget. I have no doubt that she will put the
emphasis on marching since she was a drum major...poor Owen,
his paternal grandmother is going to keep him and his Mom
will be just as busy as the coaches are with games and parades. She has to help keep food on the table in these
harsh economic times and Curtis can keep him on weekends. I
know it hurts to leave him when he is so small. This is her
dream job and it has come very soon in her career. Yea for
Sara.
