Getting Organized

I have been reading a book on getting organized on this lazy Sunday morning. The author suggests wheeling a cart room to room, laden with cleaning supplies and bags for trash and out of place items. The whole idea exhausts me.

Some of her other ideas are good, such as cleaning the kitchen at night so you won't get up and face it in the morning. Also a trip through the house at night to restore misplaced objects to their rightful place. Another good tip for someone who regularly uses a dining room, is to load and/or clear the table by using a dishpan. The clean dishes, silverware and glasses are carried in and the dirty dishes depart the same way.

One of the handiest tips was for a homemade baking mix. It is as follows:

Buttermilk Baking Mix

Ten and a half cups flour
One fourth cup baking powder
One and a half tablespoons salt
One half cup sugar
Two cups shortening
l cup buttermilk powder..(I have never seen this}

Mix with electric mixer until all ingredients are a uniform size. Store in a tightly covered container. Keeps for 3 months.

For pancakes: l and 2/3 cup of milk, 2 cups mix and one egg.

For Waffles: The same as pancakes with the addition of 2 tablespoons of oil.

For biscuts: 2 cups mix and 2/3 cup milk

For Muffins: 2 cups baking mix, l egg and two tablespoons sugar and 3/4 cup milk. (surely you need blueberries are something in them.
Two and one half teaspoons baking soda

P.S. Ed was raised like a rock star. He takes his coat off and
"knows" someone will be there to grab it before it hits the floor.

I'd love to have a cart for taking food and condiments to the
table and clearing it afterwards. I have a cart. It is in the
box. Ed says it will be too big to get past the counter divider
if it is assembled. He is afraid to assemble it. Our place
gets cluttered because we both clutter but only I put things
away. That alone accounts for a quarter of my day. I have a book
that suggests loading a cleaning cart and going from room to room.
That system is for professionals. The best tip is to put it away
when you see it and to clean an item when you think of it even if
you can't clean everything that needs it all at once. That is the
psychology that keeps you from starting. I use instructions on
the mix box. It's nice to know I am not alone in the clutter
business.

I am not organized at all. These tips might help me out! Thanks!

A person might get to feeling like a bus boy in a restaurant (not that there's anything wrong with that) using the dishpan technique. I wonder where they park the cart in between times - maybe they are so proud of it they keep it out in the living room. It sounds like a hotel maid cart (not that there is anything wrong with being a hotel maid).

Organized? My husband will tell anyone that will listen that I am the most unorganized person he knows... and it's true. I hope he doesn't get his hands on that book! Make your own baking mix? Why wouldn't you just buy Bisquick, if you need that stuff... which I don't.

Forget the baking soda in the muffin mixture. Guess that I was on auto pilot when I typed that in.
