Compatibility

Reconciling a dog and a cat is far from easy. Especially if the cat is a cantankerous siamese and the dog is an ebullient Golden Retriever puppy.

We are at the stage now where they sneak looks at each other while pretending the other doesn't exist. China can take him if he stays out of our bedroom, which is her domain. She sleeps in a circle made from an afghan on our bed. If he is allowed in there, she sulks and treats us like dirt.

He has learned to stay out of her expensive perscription food and tries hard to please in every way by curbing his natural doggy instinct to tease and pursue.

I don't think they will ever be friends but all I ask is that they just get along.

Bye for now.....Jeri

It's been my experience the the younger pet will dote on the older one while the cat (older pet) will hate the dog's (younger pet)guts for the rest of it's nine lives.

It sounds as though the golden retriever puppy is smart enough to recognize that disgression is the better part of valor.
