Where is Every Body?

I used to see Jeremy out running quite often but he has not been around in ages. Hope he and his children and wife have not been ill. Very few of us still post on this site and I miss you all. I won't lie and say I enjoy old age because I loathe it. I miss the independence that I relished and I hate the aches and pains that haunt us when we get older. I used to walk 2 miles every day and now I do well to walk Jose 5 blocks. Nadine, the black cat has chosen us and she and Jose appear to get along ok even though they avoid each other as much as possible. Our relatives who are also treasured friends, and our pets make life interesting. My sister and my daughter are my support system. We had a good social life in the neighborhood until the pandemic. Who knew what havoc it would wreak and now Russia is rumbling and about to erupt with even more bad news coming every day. My Russian DIL says that their involvement in Afghanistan wiped out a whole generation of Russian men. These despots never seem to realize the cost of war is too great to be worth while. I am praying for peace even though there may be no one listening. It can't hurt. The first day of spring is nearly here and we had 3 inches of snow yesterday. What a topsy turvey world we live in!!

Old age is for the birds!!! But better than the alternative my parents say…
I know I’m starting to feel my age more and more as I approach 50….
50.
Sorry I’m not on here much! I just started working again for a local non profit that provides rides and food to the elderly and disabled. It’s pretty rewarding!
Stay well my friend

I often start to write something here, but there's usually a back story that takes too much telling, and I decide it's simply too much to go into.

Last time a knee replacement was discussed in 2015 the doc wanted me to lose a pound a week for a year. LOL I got fat after I quit smoking in 1989 and losing a pound a year isn't even an option. My metabolism is toast. This is the same doc who missed the diagnosis of torn meniscus in 2018 so maybe there is a better choice of ortho docs now.

Years ago, following a system invented by a friend of mine, I lost 25 lbs. in 6 weeks. That was all I needed and I've been able to keep it off. It's a bio feedback system. Write your weight down every day, current weight in the upper left corner of the paper and target weight in the lower right. That's all you do. You will lose weight. If you don't take orders from yourself, it may not work.

The snow is winding down here. It's one of the biggest snowfalls of the year, which isn't unusual for March (just a week late). But the good thing about it is that I really don't have to shovel. No need to make room fro more like in January. And two sunny days will remove most of it.
I used to be able to walk to the village, 2.2 miles, but that ended a few years ago. Than I was able to walk half-mile to donate blood, but that's over too. I road the lawn mower down and back last time. Lucky I can walk the dogs around the yard to pick up sticks. I see ortho in early May, but I think all the options are used up. Aside from that, getting old beats the alternative.

One of my options is another knee replacement and after having had two, I cannot bear the thought of it. I hope your options are better.

Maybe someone like you will need to ask this once in a while, so some people pop up who haven’t posted in a while. I wonder what many are doing. I got kind of depressed for a while, but now 3 sisters and I group-text each morning, partly to make everybody check in. It turned out to be really nice.

I love the idea of a sister's text. You stay connected all day!
