What is this, Oklahoma? We had 5 or 6 kinds of weather yesterday. Sunny&warm/rain/high wind/dry/storm/wind/snow. The wind knocked out a lot of power lines. No electric for about 5 hours, & cable was out too, so no internet -- and no landline phone. It was Comcast Triple No-Play.
Couldn't get my work done yesterday so I have to work harder today.
The power went out in the afternoon but the sun goes down so early. As I tried to busy myself doing other things, I managed to misplace the flashlight I was using. In the dark it's hard to find more flashlights even if you supposedly have them "handy." The ones I could find didn't work even with fresh batteries. I finally drove out to Ralph's Army Surplus to get a good flashlight since the drugstores have only these terrible cheap ones. Ralph's too had mostly Chinese ones, but I found a good bright one that also had a completely unnecessary laser pointer.
I always liked the army surplus store. It used to carry well-made things. Wherever the ex-military and police shop is usually where very good items are. But now the store is becoming more of a general consumer type place.
Since the closure of EMS, it's hard to find stores with high-quality camping and emergency gear .... oh, wait, I just thought of a place to go: Expedition. The mountain climbers store! They may have Mag-Lites. Hope they have more than headlamps.

Must move out of this suburban town. It seems to regard regular power outages as an acceptable thing. This event affected the greater metro area, however.
