Put up or Shut Up, Mausy.

If I talk about it, then I have to do it. So this is to humiliate myself into completing some projects this spring/summer.

1. I would like to put up my site AfterlifeGazette, which will be an online newsletter for the dead. It will have a news section, an advice column, essays on topics that the dead are interested in, a list of "Death Cheaters," a section on Elvis with different theories how he may have escaped death, or not; there will also be dead Classifieds; a Pet Cemetery section; and a section for Robots. Although it'll be a joke, it will end up containing a lot of serious stuff.

The first part of the newsletter will be "Truths." This will explain a little of how this particular dead universe works. For instance, the dead can:

A. Buy and sell things on eBay. Which means they can use Paypal too.
B. Communicate with the world of the living only in a few ways.
C. Use the internet, but they don't employ the World Wide Web. They have to type in 4 ws, not 3. Their internet is complicated and sites often migrate so they have to be, uh, disinterred, frequently. When deaders go online, it shows how committed they are to reaching out to the rest of the world.
D. The dead may or may not be able to see or communicate with one another. Many can; some can't. Death is a subjective experience and how it feels, looks, smells, and sounds is individual to that particular deader. But just as people's stories of Near-Death experiences are very, very similar, so are the reports they give about their deaths.
......

2.I also want to finish my tarot deck and put it online. Eventually it might have daily drawings and a reading of those cards.
The suits so far are: Cups, Guns, Cell Phones, and ...? something else. I won't have software to allow people to pick their own cards, so I'll have to draw some myself and post them.

Some people I'd like to put in the deck include:

Eric Cartman
Stephen Colbert
Bettie Page
Glynnis Johns
George Burns
John Denver
Pogo
Stupefyin Jones
Jonathan Livingston Seagull
Charles Bronson
Germaine Greer
Fred Gwynne
Morris Udall
Satan (the real one)(no I don't mean Bush or Cheney.)
Daniel (from the Book of Daniel.)
Jerry Brown
Chamillionaire
W.C. Fields
Kate Jackson
Farrah Fawcett
a penguin
the Archangel Michael
Marduk, god of the Babylonians
Georgie Ann Geyer

...but we'll see.

And here's a picture from when I was walking near the University of Pittsburgh, where dinosaurs are such a common sight that people walk by without glancing at them.

I like the list of candidates for tarot cards...but your newsletter for the dead idea is VERRRRRY intriguing!! I am presently working on a novel called "Nathan's Mind" with a protagonist thinking from the grave. The idea is that the mind outlives the physical body. Looking forward to hearing more from you on this in the future. Let me know if you need any material for it.
