Sigh. The mother was lying on the stone, cooling herself, I thought. But it turned out she was the lookout for one of the kids, who zipped by right after I chased her away.

Squirrels are our worst enemies. They eat pecans before they are ripe and then make a daily mess in the back yard. The ground hog is cute.
Those pesky rodents. We finally have one tree squirrel in the yard, haven't seen a ground squirrel all summer. It's not that I miss them so much, but their absence seems to signal that nature is askew.
