John Sununu: Democrats Won Thanks To Voters Dependent On Government (From the Huffington Post)

If Republicans are trying to shy away from the notion that America is divided between productive capitalists and dependent moochers, they forgot to tell John Sununu. The former New Hampshire governor and Mitt Romney campaign surrogate said Tuesday that Democrats and President Barack Obama won reelection by turning out the moochers.
"They aggressively got out the base of their base, the base of their base that’s dependent, to a great extent economically, on government policy and government programs," Sununu said at a forum with two other Republican governors, according to the Concord Monitor.
Sununu's comment recalled Romney's infamous statement during the campaign that 47 percent of Americans are dependent on government and would vote for Obama no matter what. The remarks, delivered at a big-donor fundraiser in May, roiled the campaign.
"There are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent on government, who believe that, that they are victims, who believe that government has the responsibility to care for them," Romney said. "I'll never convince them they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives."
…”Romney, for his part, initially defended his "47 percent" comment, then said he had been "completely wrong." But after the election he returned to the idea, saying Obama won by giving "gifts" to blacks, Hispanics and young voters.

…NOW I KNOW WHY I DID NOT RECEIVE MY GIFT- I AM NOT BLACK, HISPANIC OR YOUNG!

Our stupid Governor is on the dole as far as I am concerned. She charged
off her daughter's wedding in Ireland and her vacation to office expense.

I read this a few days ago and immediately "googled" the wedding charge off and your governor's propensity for travel. Guess the economy is bad when you have to STEAL the public's money just to flit all over the world... or pay to attend your daughter's wedding.

Congressmen and former congressmen are all moochers, so they are part of the 47%. And I don't see them rushing to change that or give the money back. Did anyone point that out?

LOL! I have to say that I don't understand their argument in this case. I don't mean the specific one accusing the Democrats of (basically) bribing voters to win. Don't people normally vote for the person or party they agree with more on the issues or policy? Don't both parties strive to encourage people who support them to get out and vote?

I actually think that the latter question is one that we should all encourage. We want our electors to be active participants in the democratic process. As for the first part, I am totally confused as to why they think it is bad for people to support candidates/parties who believe the same thing they do. I think that people who believe in Republican principals have every right not to be told they are being bribed with tax cuts just because they are voting their conscious just as much as a believe those supporting Democrats shouldn't be told they are voting for a government that bribes them with a social safety net.

Sorry about the typos at the end, the proof text was showing up in the same space as the entry box for typing so I could see that I used the wrong principal/principle etc.
