Where Does the Time Go?

I stayed busy this week and even had the opportunity to catch up on some of your blogs. Takes so long, I think because I have too many names in my friend's list. Well, I am not likely to shorten that. Wouldn't even know where to start.
I did a few 'practice' pieces with watercolors- trying to permit them to flow and various wet-on-wet and dry brush techniques with various results. The worst are in the trash can. One of the better ones is shown above.
I have not given up on the idea of writing and illustrating a children's book. I am simply delaying it. I don't need another excuse not to finish my work in progress; a novel titled "Black Water Currents." One person volunteered to read it (darkstar) and I think she likes what I have thus far. It is a bit dark with strong religious overtones. That is because sometimes trauma makes us re-examine our belief systems as we struggle to cope with tragic events. I am getting to that place where I am invested in my central character, and opening the document now to work on it is like visiting a friend.
Today I am going to be out all day, first to a USCGAUX event, then to a pig roast at my local Am Vets chapter. It will be a fun day. I am the designated photographer at the first event but it will be fun for me anyway. See you all tomorrow, and have a great day.

I believe that your passion for painting equals mine for cooking. It is thoughtful of you to share your beautiful creations. Hope you had a great Saturday

I like your watercolor progress! Nice! Do you ever watch Terry Madden's watercolor art instruction program on PBS? Probably too basic for you, and you are developing your own unique style and approach to the medium, but the variation in the techniques he illustrates are interesting. Worth a look. Wish you lived closer so we could visit the upcoming Monet/Impressionists exhibition at the Detroit Institute of Art this fall. Talk about inspiration!!

Sounds like you have a nice weekend planned. I have always wanted to try a pig roast, but never know anyone having one.
I love that watercolor!

It's a great excuse to see people I have not seen in long time. I have reclused far too long. Now I understand why many Native Americans recluse for 'four moons' after a death or other great family tragedy. One really needs the time to recover.
