I stayed busy this week and even had the opportunity to catch up on some of your blogs. Takes so long, I think because I have too many names in my friend's list. Well, I am not likely to shorten that. Wouldn't even know where to start.
I did a few 'practice' pieces with watercolors- trying to permit them to flow and various wet-on-wet and dry brush techniques with various results. The worst are in the trash can. One of the better ones is shown above.
I have not given up on the idea of writing and illustrating a children's book. I am simply delaying it. I don't need another excuse not to finish my work in progress; a novel titled "Black Water Currents." One person volunteered to read it (darkstar) and I think she likes what I have thus far. It is a bit dark with strong religious overtones. That is because sometimes trauma makes us re-examine our belief systems as we struggle to cope with tragic events. I am getting to that place where I am invested in my central character, and opening the document now to work on it is like visiting a friend.
Today I am going to be out all day, first to a USCGAUX event, then to a pig roast at my local Am Vets chapter. It will be a fun day. I am the designated photographer at the first event but it will be fun for me anyway. See you all tomorrow, and have a great day.
