I wanted to do something different, so I painted it entirely in black and white acrylic, then after it dried, tinted it using only red and blue (red, white and blue). I used both black and white to produce shades, but did not mix the red and blue because that would have produced a third color group: purple. It is different and came out better than I thought it might. I also changed some of the characters. The boy in the middle is now a young woman and the boy to his right is now a soldier.
I saved a copy of the image in black and white. I think one of these days I will print it on canvas paper and paint it using 'real' colors just to see how it comes out.
It is how I spent my day trying hard not to think or feel. Today that worked out better than yesterday.
