I was flitting around on the internet the other night and even found AJ on Facebook when out of the clear blue my PC shut down. It seemed to shut down normally and I thought maybe I accidentally hit the OFF button on the keyboard, except that I could never get it to turn back on again.
Crash!
Two days and $300 dollars later I am back online. For the price of a full diagnostic and a new motherboard plus a 10 -14 day wait as they do not carry my model (general concesus was it was the motherboard because the graphics card still worked, I had power and the memory worked fine in my other PC) - I picked up a refurbished PC.  I am going to go back and get the two year warranty for another $80, but I have ten days to do that.
Financially this has been a bad month for me. Last week I got into my car to go somewhere only to learn that I ran over some screws and they were lodged right at the edge- not a great place to try to patch tires, especially with our extremely hot road temperatures. That meant two new tires. I got my HO insurance bill from my house in Indiana where my sisters live. It went up almost $300 over last year... almost 40%! I just increased their rent to cover the increase in taxes and the new AC, and they are at their upper limits. Ouch! Taxes and HO Insurance went up here too. I may have to put out a white flag at this rate.
I would still love to sell this house and move to Kentucky. Indiana is not a bad choice either. At least I have lots of family there. I feel a bit entrenched.  This is where I am now firmly rooted... or should I say firmly rutted?
I will catch up on posts tomorrow AM. Tonight I am going to be on patrol in Tampa Bay in the cold and the dark! It's a security thing with the Super Bowl and all of the strange folks out on the water, most of whom are just drunk and having a good time, but we need to keep a watch out for folks with less good intentions, or be there to assist the ones who get stupid after way too many beers.
