Well, I had both an endoscopy and a colonoscopy done. Glad they are over. I had a colonoscopy 5 years ago and it was painless. This time, it was painful as heck. Seems I am now diagnosed with 'moderately severe diverticulosis'. This was likely caused by decades of intermittent constipation, but I now eat Activa and no longer have that problem. There is a touch of humor in this. The last thing I ate was blue jello, so the nurse dubbed me 'Mama Smurf". By the way- no treatment indicated, just eat lots of roughage and continue eating Activa.
The endoscopy? I won't bother with the medical terms, but my esophagus has "innumerable rings (scars)" with lots of evidence of swelling, redness and excessive fluid. All that to tell me what I already knew: I choke on both solids and liquids often and without warning. I guess I will add the Prilosec to my list of pills that I MUST take. They performed biopsies both from my esophagus and my colon and I will not have the results for 4-6 weeks, but the Dr. said he saw nothing that suggested tumors or cancer.
There, now you know as much as I do- and likely more than you wanted to hear! The best part was being able to eat again, and I made sure it was healthy food- lean chicken and vegetables.
