There are times when I hate opening my email program. Because of the office that I hold within a volunteer organization, I have over 3000 names in my Outlook contact list. I periodically send out emails asking folks to drop me from their forwarding list, especially jokes and messages of a religious or political nature. Most comply, but there are always some who think their opinions are so important that they ignore my request--- so when I download new messages, I sit with my finger poised over the 'delete' button. (Don't we all?)

Once in a while I run across something that does alarm me. The link to this website is a case in point:

It alarms me because a successful suit by the ACLU against this monument could be a precursor to the removal of all crosses at Arlington National Cemetery. (Unforeseen consequences.)



Mostly the annoying political emails are blatant lies and exaggerations about our present Presidential Administration. One email was downright libelous and I looked at the sender's name. This was someone who lambasted me last year for being unpatriotic because I was not a Bush supporter. After all, went the argument, he was then the President of the United States, and if for no other reason than because he was our Commander in Chief, he deserved our loyalty and support.

Just for the heck of it, I copied and pasted his words to me last year in a reply back to him. Bad, bad move! Seems I am a modern day Commie as I am one of the people trying to destroy our present Democracy by replacing it with a Socialist system of government.

I don't get it. Why have I been such a target for extremists lately?

I think one good thing did come out of it. I am pretty sure that he removed me from his forwarding list!
