There's a movie coming out on Friday called Choke. It's an indy film. Not many theaters will have it. It's based on the book of the same name by Chuck Palahniuk. For those unfamiliar with his work...he wrote Fight Club. Now I know someone here has heard of that one because one half of Brangelina is the star of the movie version. He is a brilliant yet bizarre author who happens to be from Portland, Oregon. That's not why I like his work. I could explain but you need to read his books for yourself. Back to Choke. It's about a guy who's taking care of his ailing mother. He works at a theme park that takes place in colonial America. In order to pay his mother's nursing home bill he cons people by choking in a restaurant and making the would-be heroes feel obligated to send him money. On top of that he's a sex addict who happens to pick up women at support meetings among other places(think mile-high club as one place.) The ironic part is that the story is a comedy. One f**ked up comedy. I'm hoping the movie follows the book. The closest place to me that's showing it is in Salem. I'm trying to decide if PD and I should have a movie date or not. We'll decide.
'nuff said.
