At a staff meeting a few weeks ago, the new director (who started 2.5 months ago), downgraded our dress code.
It used to be "business casual," which other than not wearing jeans, is pretty casual.
The director now says we are NOT to dress up. We need to dress "smart casual," like we are going for lunch with a girlfriend, so we are more approachable and basically don't look like "authority." Jeans are good. Wear jeans to work. We should also wear closed toe shoes incase you drop something on your foot.

That's me with my hair raised and my mouth hanging open.
One of my own personal perks of working is that I have an excuse to buy cute, fashionable clothing. I have no reason to wear them otherwise. I bought two pairs of strappy sandals this spring just to wear to work. I bought skirts and dresses and tops (mostly from thrift stores, but still!) ....
I'm still coming to terms with this. I'm sure I won't get called out for wearing sandals, dresses, skirts, non-jean pants, but heck! This kind of sucks. :P I like playing dress up.
Oh well, it does give me more clothing freedom at work. I'll wear jeans once in a while, but I refuse to wear anything but sandals on hot days!!
