Blogging in My Head

I've been blogging in my head for weeks now, and I have to let some of it out!

Co-workers.
There are only about 12 of us, 4 of them very new, and 5 old-timers (including me). I like everyone, except for one person who gets on my nerves. She's the verbal diarrhia type (she said so herself). Anytime I walk into work, she jumps all over me, asking if I'm working, or if I'm just here as a normal non-working person (but use 10x the number of words I just used). I work in a public library, and I do occasionally go in to use the high speed internet (I have slow dial up at home), or work a few extra hours on a project, or attend a videoconference or training session.

She's also talked about something I've done, right in front of me, saying that what I did was wrong/outdated on the website. I do not answer to her, so I pretty much reply to such attacks as "oh, really?" And go about my business. She was wrong, by the way. Then she noticed me doing something that was related to what she was saying before - and said something like it's about time that you changed that! LOL! Yup, the person in charge had enough concrete details for me to put something on the website about it. She's just being a busy body and poking her nose in everyone's business! Luckily, we don't work many hours together.

Computers/websites
The library's website has been hacked, again. Last time it was hidden links to an art website (weird). I never figured out how they got in, and I totally screwed up the website trying to fix it. The site was down for a few days while I frantically put it back together.

This time, there is code being added to the website to infect your computer with... something... when you view the site! Yikes! I took the website down for a day - which didn't actually work since the infected code was also on the "this website is down" screen. I removed the code today, closed some more little security holes, but I think I still need to wipe the site clean and re-install everything to be safe. I find this very stressful - I do not have the training for this, I'm flying by the seat of my pants trying to get up to speed on PHP/CSS/JAVA security!

Videoconferences
There was a videoconference one evening that I was working. Another person was looking after it, and the screen blanked out so she asked me for help. The screen was black, but we could hear the people at other sites, and they could see us (yikes!). We couldn't figure it out, so the people who came for the conference left, and we just shut it down. How embarrassing!

I went to a videoconference on Boys & Boy's Brains. It was very, very interesting! Although it focused on boys, the presenter also explained about the difference between male and female brains, so you learned a bit about female brains too. It's too much info to get into, but it does explain a lot|!

Zumba
Zumba is latin-fitness-dancing kind of thing. There was a class in town, so I got my neighbour to go with me. It was so fun! The woman leading the class was a tiny south american looking woman, and WOW could she ever move her body! It makes me want to learn better how to do the moves! The dance was totally matched to the music, so you would be swinging your hips to the beat, or hopping backwards at a certain part of the song... it's hard to describe, the music was motivating and made me move! I was dripping sweat by the end of the hour, and I must have had a goofy smile on my face the whole time!

Running
On Monday, I finally ran the entire distance around the lake, about 10k, without stopping. It took 55 minutes. It's a lovely run - it starts on sidewalks, then a gravel path, over a small dam, on the road for a short distance to a pathway that is sometimes paved, sometimes gravel, back on the sidewalk, and for a few blocks, on the road (keeping to people's driveways as much as possible), then back on the path, over the bridge, and back to the starting point. I had slacked off running for a few weeks, but hopefully I'm back into it again. I did another run in town this week, 30 minutes on pathways and sidewalks, with hills.

Kids
Went to parent-teacher interviews this week. My children are brilliant! DS is reading at a grade 7 level (he's in grade 4). DD is coming along well with her reading (grade 1) and both teachers said the kids are near the top of class and are well behaved! Yeah!

There is so much more in my head that wants to come out! Sick pony, inherited a hamster, kittens needing to give away, favorite exercise instructor leaving for Vancouver (I'm jealou and sad), all my pants are too big, I hate book fair, Alec Baldwin in the movie "it's complicated" is gross, I'm bored at work (well, maybe not at the moment with website issues), .........

That's frustrating about the website hacking. I wonder how that happens, sounds like a lack of security at your ISP on their servers that would let hackers access your code. Now I worry about my web pages, but they are so static - no scripts or frames or interaction aside from links, maybe it's okay.

Nothing like a blogging "ketchup" day. I'm envious of a nice running route around the lake. Perfect distance for me (I ran 10k Sun. Knee hurts now.) The dance class sound neat. That's why I like to "box", "dancing" around the punching bag with music in the background. Anyway, I'm proud of you.

I agree! Alec Baldwin was *so* creepy in It's Complicated! I kinda thought that whole movie sucked. But his hairy chest did me in. Almost puked a little in my mouth.

I blog in my head all the time. It's usually a good thing when it doesn't make it to print.

Yes, creepy is a good description! Why oh why did he take his clothes off so often in the movie with a body like that??? BARF!

Wow. You did need to blog, didn't you!!

What a great, diverse read, can relate about the chatterbox at work, every where has them, they annoy the bejesus out of me and are generally gossips.

The kids, do well, doesn't it make your heart swell with pride when you find out how well they are doing at school-have to confess to having 3 geniuses here as well, got to love em all

I have so much more that I need to say, but I believe that my husband found my other blog, and was acting on things I had written. Not in a bad way, but I was VERY unhappy with the invasion of my privacy. (Yeah, silly since this blog is open to the world).

Yeah, it's nice that the kids are doing well at school.
