As I mentioned before, I won "free tickets" to an advanced screening of the movie "Ghost Town".
I got the tickets, by reading the "Flint Journal". My "morning paper said.. be one of the "first 50" to respond (on a website) and you will have free tickets..
I did, got the "tickets"..
Now, we had to go to the local mall, to pick up the tickets (we did.. Not far away). Now we just had to wait till the 16th (today) to see the movie.
The "ticket (for two) said" : You must get there "early" They purposely over book the "theater" to ensure a full seating when the movie plays. That's to "ensure" a full theater, for the advanced showing.
Ok.. so Roxi and I decided to get there "early". We was there like an hour or so early. We turned in the "pass", got our two tickets. We then went out to eat.
We went to this place called "Tony's". I never heard of it, but is world famous. The reason.. the "portions" are bigger then ANYWHERE! Roxann said.. Gary, you gotta try this place.. but we have to "share a meal".. we did.
I am sitting there..looking at the menu.. all that. I see that.. if you order a "Banana Split" They use a full half gallon of Ice cream. If you order a BLT.. they use a FULL pound of Bacon! This is no lie! I have NEVER seen a place like this. Their fame is... "Make it Big".. and they do..
As a "Business person" I can see how it works for them. Roxi and I split a "Fish and Shrimp" meal. More then we could eat. Cost was 17.99.. we both had a pop. Cost was $2.49 each. So, with "TIP", pop, and meal.. we spent $30 there. Still was cool. I know the place makes big bucks..
Logically.. we shared a meal.. because so BIG, we had too. We spent $30 for one meal and shared. The place makes money, that's for sure! Think on this.. how many people go in.. not knowing HOW BIG the portions are?!!! To me, they have an AWESOME Business Model..
They even do "little" chit to bring people in. When we got our bill, the dude (waiter) came and gave is a "handful" of candy. I casually said "that's cool.. hey we got 5 kids between us". He then left, and came back with two FULL handfull's of candy. lol. The place is AWESOME!!! But I certainly see why it works for them. Financially, and people wise. It's "World famous" and in "Birch Run" Michigan. Just off I-75. If you happen to be that way.. stop in. I promote what I feel is cool.
The "Movie" (Ghost Town) was AWESOME. Trust me, if I thought it sucked, I would say. Ok, now I mentioned before we "got the tickets (to make sure we had them.. on the tickets they said be early). We went to eat.. came to the theater just before the movie was to start. We had our tickets, but had to stay in line for "popcorn" and suck. There was maybe 50 people in line behind us. We went into the "theater" and it WAS PACKED!. I seen only 4 open seats in the entire theater. Two "up top" (but not together), and two down on the bottom. First row.. the far side (to the wall) of the theater. To put it "bluntly", we got some "Crappy ass seats".. lol. Probably the worst. But at least we got in. I expect 50 or more people had tickets, but were turned away. I seen them in line behind us. On the tickets... They said "There is no guarentee" that you will get in.. even with the tickets. It said.. "We OVERBOOK, to ensure a FULL theater". Basically this means.. if your not early... too flucking bad.. lol. We got our tickets very early.. went to eat.. but came in a tad too late. I think we was the last to be seated.. in a full theater.
The "Movie" is REALLY GOOD! You should know me by now.. If I felt it "Sucked" I would say so. It is pretty damn good really. At times I was "laughing my ass off", times I cried. I believe most of the people in the theater felt same. I heard the "laughing".. watched the "wiping of the EYES".
Well.. the FREE movie cost about $40.. lol. Between food, tip, popcorn, pop, gas.. it really wasn't free. Don't matter.. we had a "GOOD TIME", and that's all that matters really!......
So AGAIN.. want a cool movie to "see".. I recommend this one! So does Roxi.. hell she can't stop talking about how much she liked it.
Later all,
Gary :)
