Slip, Sliding Away, part 2

Mom stopped listening to the memory doc when he told her to stop driving. She didn't hear him say someone was going to inspect her house to determine whether it was safe for her to live alone. Then he said she would have to give up control of her finances. She didn't hear that either.

She said that "she didn't have to listen to this shit." and started to walk out. But the nurse got her to stay. The doc explained that because he told her not to drive, she was open to civil liability where she could lose everything if she was sued. Me too, since I have power of attorney.

She will have a driving test in a few weeks. The doc advised her to stop driving until she has the test. She wasn't planning on it. He explained that she will be open to a huge civil liability loss if she has an accident. Me too, since I have power of attorney.

In the car she blamed me for ever taking her there, and everything else. She said she would quit driving when it was a cold day in hell.

Saturday she denied ever saying that she was going to continue driving. Then she insisted that I drive her to church in the morning.
So, I took her to church. She drove to the store on Monday. I drove her and the boyfriend to his eye doctor yesterday. I waited 3 hours for them.

I'll have to tell her that I'm taking over her finances. I think some Xanax or Ativan before hand would help... maybe a joint or two would help, after all Medical Marijuana is allowed here. Even better - I could be unconcious! I already know how she'll react. I'll have to go to court to seek Conservatorship.
