I used to use the squirt gun, but I switched to canned air. He gets off the table or whatever and flies into a hiding place! It still works even after a year. Maybe you could help Bunjii by keeping Doobie away. Give Doobie hugs and kisses from me.

Hope you have a good celebration, Waterloo! Happy Columbus Day, from Bella, Cassie and Gertie, and Max .

I love the smell of a wood stove - and putting on clothes after they've warmed on the stove is such an exquisite indulgence.

I too am surrounded by Republicans but my state seems to vote Democrat, over and over. I guess many of those must live on the other side of the state. Anyone who cannot name a single newspaper that they read must be rather ignorant of what's happening in the world. Watching the news doesn't qualify.
I haven't been interested in debates until this election, but I'm enjoying them now. McCain looked stiffer and wooden than Al Gore ever did. He seemed to be going out of his way to keep his distance from Obama.

Using the internet is wonderful to those of us who are somewhat isolated for various reasons. It is a wonderful way to learn about other places in the world and the people who live there. I have e-friends from northern Canada to Netherlands to California and Australia. Couldn't have done that without cyberspace. However, I made a deliberate decision to spend less time online this summer and more time outdoors on projects or just hangin' out with my dogs. I, too, love to read, but it tires my eyes to read too much on a computer screen.

That sounds like a good show - but I don't have cable. I support Best Friends- the people there are just amazing! I remember when you posted about the Michael Vick dogs they took in. The pictures and things I learned were horrific. It's hard to imagine anyone thinking that an animal should be treated that way. Speaking of hoarders, my Cassie came from an older man- 78 years old - who had 39 other dogs. She delivered 10 puppies a week after I got her and five of them lived. She was severely malnourished as you might expect.

WE're starting to get some color here too. For the first time ever, I'm not looking forward to it. I really want warm weather.

I know what you mean - I have a very hard time finishing a quilt I can't stand. We call them UFOs or UnFinished objects. Nearly every quilter has some.

Thanks for the info about the shampoo, etc. I may have to go to otc stuff if my insurance changes too much when I retire.

Sorry to hear about your woes, Jon. I too have psoriatic arthritis and am VERY jealous of you not having any psoriasis lesions for 12 years!!! I didn't know that about the sed rate. I don't know what mine is. Cream of Wheat is a good source of iron too. Make it with milk though so it doesn't taste like wallpaper paste. Take care of your investment.

I feel sorry for her kids - as uptight as she is, she's probably had her thumb smashed down on them hard! Hence, the rebellious behavior. Shotgun wedding anyone?

I have a complaint about a minor, but irritating habit of Joe Biden's. He rarely looked into the camera and spoke to the audience and mostly looked at the moderator while giving his answers. And, with all due respect to you and Teal, Joe Six-Pack was a term heard a lot during Clinton's first campaign. Northerners say Joe Six-Pack while southerners say Bubba. Bubba is a bit of a pejorative, but essentially they mean a regular guy. I agree, Palin did much better than during the Katie Couric interview. The next day, McCain announced he is pulling out of Michigan entirely. The reason: 16,000 people turned out to see Obama in downtown Grand Rapids the morning of the debate.

According to a science podcast I listened to about a year ago, listening to new music is one way to keep our attitudes young. NPR's Charles Krulwicz on Science said that most of us stop being open to new music in our early 20s. Since then, I've been downloading the freebies on iTunes every week and I actually like some of them? Here's a link: https://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5652676
