Why was I celebrating the photo of wires hanging down from the ceiling in my last post? Because I had finally gotten the electrical box installed in the hole! I began working on it in August - around the 8th I think. The old box looked a bit like Bakelite and fell apart as I was taking it out so I knew switching was a good decision.
Unfortunately, I couldn't get the new box bolted into the hole. The nut wasn't stationary - it slid back and forth on a metal bar and would not stay still!
Suddenly, I had one of those "AHA" moments. It only took two months to get to me. I realized that the answer was to tape the bolt in place so it COULDN'T slide! It only took a little over two months for me to figure that out. After basking in the glow of solving my problem, I got back to work. It didn't take long to bolt the box in place and connect all the wires.
Next, I hung the fan and a little tweak here and a little tweak there and it is off and running. I'm sure you all know what a ceiling fan looks like, but I like these two pictures so here they are.
So, on those hot summer nights next year, it'll be much cooler in the bedroom thanks to the $10 yard sale ceiling fan.
