Tax Time

Well, here we go again. It is tax prep time. I spent four hours yesterday sorting papers and starting my return. Is it too late to make a New Year's resolution to file as the year progresses so I don't end up like I have the last three years with a whole year's worth of papers in a pile? Last year I ended up owing because of that required minimum withdrawal. I don't want to withdraw. Grrrr. It looks better for this year so far. Yay! I am going to file my January papers now. New Year's Resolution a little bit late. Oh, and I love TurboTax.

I spend a lot of time through the year keeping up with managing the documentation and bank accounts, and still have a push during tax season assembling all the 1099s and bank statements. It's a job, that's for sure.

The end is in sight for me this year. I read that early filers (who usually file early because they are getting a refund.) will not be getting early refunds.

Geez. I have been a State Farm policy holder since the 1970s and didn't know that! Thanks. I pay about a hundred a year for Turbo Tax.

I found out by accident several years ago. State Farm doesn't advertise the fact. It is just there on their website. I use the Deluxe version because I itemize. It is free to use and to send.

Turbo Tax rocks.

I was married to a CPA and she always raped my wallet at tax time. LOL

For people who have State Farm insurance, you can get TurboTax free. I have used this for several years. You need to register on the State Farm site and there you go. The free TurboTax tab is on the right side near the bottom.

I dread doing my taxes on-line. Never done it that way before. I'm so old-fashioned. Take a deep breath, Randy.

If you have State Farm insurance you can sign on, use Turbo Tax free to get the feel of it, print it out and not send it. If you are not comfortable, you can use your usual method and compare it to TurboTax.

The only one I have used is TurboTax and it is a piece of cake. You answer the questions and fill in the blanks. You do have to have your papers in order, though.

I always resolve to do it each month and always fail in my resolution.

I bought an acccordian folder last year thinking it would be easier. That lasted about two months. I am ever hopeful.

You can always be as poor as me and not make enough money to file a tax return.
