It seems to me that in the natural order of things, in the animal kingdom for instance, it is survival of the fittest. The weak always succumb while the strong and healthy continue the propagation of the species.
In the human world (sadly, unfortunately, ashamedly even) it is the survival of the richest. Is it human nature? I dont know. But no one can deny that in most circumstances, the wealthy are advantaged and the poor are disadvantaged. It is just the way it is.
Think about it....if there was a worldwide human epidemic and a terrible disease is killing people, a vaccination has been produced but is of course very expensive and in short supply....guess who gets most of it.
If there was a major catastrophe about to unfold....an asteroid is heading for earth and humans have to build serious bunkers underground....but this is a very expensive solution...the bunkers have to be made using seriously expensive materials...food supplies, water, generators for power enough to last a few months......guess which portion of the population will get to have those bunkers.
If there was a worldwide food shortage..or even a worldwide shortage of toothpast and each tube costs $250.00, guess who walks around with a full belly and a very healthy set of pure white teeth.
Is this nature's way to ensure survival of the human species? In every aspect of human life, the struggle for survival is always on the poor while the wealthy live in a world of almost obscene indifference.
Doesnt it ever make you wonder, when you watch shows on tv about the rich and famous....you get to see their enormous mansions, their yachts, their private jets, their clothes, jewellery, a few vacation homes in beautiful tropical islands, and all the other things we can only dream about, do you ever wonder if these people.....while they're luxuriating on their yachts, drinking very expensive champagne and snacking on beluga caviar....or a super rich Arab sheik inspecting his collection of 100 or so Rolls Royce limos..... ever think about a baby in Somalia that is seconds away from dying of starvation...or the refugees living in appalling conditions in camps around Darfur?
Of course these people (some of them) are generous and most probably contribute to several charities around the place...but if you put two pictures together side by side..one picture of the appalling poverty of a family totally emaciated and about to die from lack of food and medication...next to a picture of someone indulging in champagne and caviar on a very expensive yacht......should we begrudge them their wealth?
How do rich people even rationalize the two scenarios?
In capitalist societies where "spreading the wealth" is deemed as an evil communistic, socialistic, you name it aberration, is this human nature saying this is the way for the human species to survive?
Okay now I'm thinking this is "wealth envy"....and of course it is.....why would you not envy those who have the capability of surviving the human race? It is survival of the richest and that is just the way it is. In the animal kingdom it is accepted that it is survival of the fittest, in the human race it is survival of the wealthiest whether you accept it or not.
