Today, JR and our dog, Annie, arrived in Louisville, Kentucky for the Mid America Truck Show. This is the grand-daddy of all truck shows. This year's show will also include a benefit concert for our Grandson, Chance Rodgers, who is battling osteosarcoma cancer. The concert which features singer, song-writer, Leland Martin, will take place in the parking lot of the Papa John's Stadium. There will also be an auction, and a chili cook-off to raise money for Chance's hospital and medical bills.
After arriving today, JR immediately began to meet many of the sponsers and also the truckers who are supporting Chance. In fact, JR just called a few minutes ago and was lamenting the fact that I was unable to join him. He says, he has met sooooo many wonderful people and he has only been there a few hours. I finally decided that the trip was just too much for me to tackle with all of my back and leg pain. But, my heart is there!!!!!
Chance's sister, Shelby, and Aunt Debbie, and cousin Kirstie will arrive by plane this evening in Louisville. Shelby and Kirstie are going to be on stage during the concert and doing a song along with some other children who are there to support Chance. I'm so proud of the way Shelby has stepped up to represent her brother.
Well... I wish you were all going to be at the show and I wish I were there, too. Maybe some of you who live close will be able to attend the event. The concert begins at 4:00pm on Thursday. It is free!!!!
Here on the ranch, it is snowing off and on today. And... I had a herd of deer grazing on the hill next to the north of the house. I could look out the bedroom window and watch them. They also took their midday naps under the trees. It was quite a sight.
Wishing ya'll well and remember to say thankyou to our trucking friends who bring us our food, clothes, etc.
