Heat Wave

Here it is about 1:15am and we are having a major heat wave in this house. It seems I filled the wood burning stove a little too full and now the temperature in that room is above 80 degrees. Soooo... I'm opening windows which is our winter method of air conditioning.

I was worried that Annie Dog would get too cold and now I find her with her tongue hanging out panting. Fact is.. my tongue is hanging out, too.

Growing up in this country with wood heat, I learned early that to cool the house, we opened doors and windows... even when it was snowing outside. It is just the way of life here. But, I love that wood heat. It seems more soothing and it certainly is cheaper.

Out in the sticks - Annie :o)

p.s. I see troutbend and I think alike... we have the same title on our blog articles. Funny :o)

We heated our previous house with a wood stove. The cats loved that steady heat.

I grew up with wood heat and I also remember feeling like a rotisserie chicken on some nights! But you're right...it's such a comforting kind of heat that seems to warm you up on a cold night from the inside out.
