Good morning, good buddies. How are you this wonderful Sunday morning? It is just a bit cool this morning--so cool that hubby set the heat to kick on at 70 and that it did and has been running some.
I have been up since long before dawn and have a beautiful coffee cake made for hubby and son if they ever decide to leave the warmth of their beds. I have also cooked green beans with shallots, garlic and pancetta and have steaks soaking up all the favors of the marinade. I'll get them out in a few hours, let them come to room temperature, then grill. I want to do something with potatoes, but I haven't decided what. I may just bake them since steak and baked potatoes are so very yummy.
I went shopping yesterday with my daughter, bought her and my grandson each a winter coat. Poor babies didn't have a thing to keep out the winter chill. I also bought her a couple of pairs of jeans and a vacuum. We had lunch at Pasta House, a new one built across from the mall with a fantasic atmosphere. We really enjoyed ourselves, only talking about good things, laughing and acting crazy. I needed a day away from my normal routine of work, work, work and no play.
Fort Massac is having their annual encampment with fife players, drummers, people in rich attire of the early period. Booths of all kinds representing the lost arts of candle making, quilting and all other skills that have become lost or quaint from our progress beckon us to return to that time in history.
Fort Massac is located on the Ohio River in the town of Metropolis, the home of Superman. Their paper is called the Daily Planet, of course. There is a hugh statue of Superman right in front of the court house. Metropolis is also a home to Harrah's, the gambling casino. You would be amazed at the amount of tourists that visit the home of Superman, Harrah's and also Fort Massac
Well, I must see to my family. They have finally decided to grace me with their presence. I hope that all have a wonderful, restful day.
