The Weather, Just Wait

You've heard that expression 'if you don't like the weather, just wait and it will change.' In some places the changes are slower coming.

Here is the extended forecast for Las Vegas:

Today: A full day of sunshine 104 degrees
Tomorrow: Plenty of sun 105 degrees
Friday: Mostly sunny 106 degrees
Saturday: Sunny 105 degrees
Sunday: Sunny to partly cloudy 106 degrees
Monday: Mostly sunny 106 degrees
Tuesday: Sunny and hot 109 degrees

How many ways can they describe hot sunny weather? It's very boring to be a weather person in Las Vegas this time of year.

Here in the Colorado Rocky Mountains we've had some warm days, close to 90 degrees, but today it's going to get up to 65 degrees and rainy. This is a blessing during fire season. Maybe not great for the tourists, but they'll get over it.

Last night's thunderstorm started with marble-size hail that fell intensely but briefly - 1/2 inch deep in a couple of minutes. As it started we sprinted out and covered the vegetable plants with bed sheets. We have a metal patio cover that used to be the car awning at an A&W Rootbeer stand. The sound of the hail on that roof was deafening, we had to scream to hear each other, not that there was much to discuss. Trapped out there, we held cushions from the patio furniture over our heads to run for the house, but we had to be careful not to slip and fall on the hail covering the steps.

Temps every day over 100 seem too daunting to me. I'm struggling with temps in the 90s. Your hail escape sounds harrowing.

You should see all the names they come up with for rain.

its turned down right chilly up here in Cow Snot. also cloudy and gloomy and misting rain. We are all counting the hours until Frontier Days(the last week of the month). You can tell they are almost upon us by the increasing number of RV's encamped in the WalMart parking lot.

Oh my goodness. I remember when I lived back east in the 70s and it got hot/humid, we'd go sit in the car for the air conditioning.

Their overnight lows are around 85. But it's a dry heat.
