Video of the Fox

This is my first movie ever, and first YouTube experience. The editing is a little rough, but here he is, himself, after a two week absence.

I found that one of my digital cameras creates files in the wrong format for iMovie on my Mac, but fortunately I switched cameras mid-filming.

Thanks to Greatmartin for the inspiration and encouragement.

What awesome video!! How lucky you are that he comes during daylight and you can video him. My fox only comes at night and he is not nearly as big as yours. I put Purina One out every night for the raccoons and he will come up and eat. I will have to buy some Milk Bones.

He comes night or day, whenever it suits him. If he gets here early in the morning he waits until I get up and see him. Right now he is on a schedule - comes only on Tuesday. I picture him living quite a distance away and making time to come over here for a snack, and if I don't have any dinner roll for him to carry back home, I've let him down. Sometimes I make dog biscuits for him and he eats more of those than he hides. I'll post the recipe over at kitchentales.

Great job! How cool to see him in action. Does he come back another time to dig up the biscuits he buried?

Once in awhile he'll come at night and I'll just barely see him sitting out there in the food spot waiting for me to notice. One time I heard him barking at 2 am, turned on the yard light and there he was digging up one of those bones. He didn't mind the light, just kept on digging. Sometimes the ravens and squirrels dig them up, too. There is another fox that comes at night or dusk. It is very skittish, takes off it is sees movement in the house.

That was FABULOUS! You must do more videos; babbling brooks, birds, squirrels....whatever you can find. I'm still trying to talk DH into getting passports.

I hate my recorded voice, so have to decide whether to narrate a video of the babbling brooks. (Me babbling over the brook.)

Oh my goodness HOW COOL! So funny watching him try to get all those milkbones in his mouth... love this video! You rock!

Isn't it great? Much different seeing him in motion than still pictures. He can get three bones in his mouth, but I didn't catch it on the video. I just love the expectant, happy way he trots back to where I'm going to throw out the next batch.

Hugs to all of you there.

I am so glad he is back. I love the video. He must have eaten well this
winter because he looks plump.

It's all fur. Once in awhile he'll be limping a little bit, and I can imagine him taking a tumble on some rocky cliff.

You did a GREAT job...so much better than I could have done. He's so pretty with his winter coat. Wouldn't it be neat if he would bring his family down one of these days to meet you.

Wouldn't it be something to see the babies? I will keep the camera with me all summer just in hope.

fANTASTIC!!! We are ready to open our own studio--how about a movie starring the fox with Julia Roberts and Brad Pitts on my Point?!?!?!?! And you can do subtitles for the fox!!!!
comment by greatmartin on Apr 24, 2012 5:42 PM ()
It's fun, isn't it? I so enjoy other 'this is what I see walking around my yard' videos, it's exciting to be able to do one myself. I didn't really master the titles part (you can see where there is a placeholder for the subtitle that I didn't edit out), but maybe I'll get better at it. I'm a bit like you: pleeeez don't make me have to read the manual!

Your fox is handsome as can be, and lots of personality. You should name him.
Loved seeing this video. Seems like he's collecting bones. What did you throw him there at the end? Busy, busy fox.

He hid lots of dog biscuits, and then I threw him that dinner roll at the end and he carried it up the hill to where we think his family lives. He always waits for something soft and bread-like to take home, and I feel like I've let him down if I don't have something.
