Sitting here, watching a DVD, I dropped the remote control in a large mug of hot tea. Judging by how much came out of it, it soaked up a lot of liquid in the short time it was in there.
Mr. Troutbend, in his typical electronic avoidance, tried to stand on the edge of the room so I might not involve him in helping to dry it out. But I shamed him into it, and he found a little screwdriver and opened it up. Finally, he got the hair dryer and dried it out. I think it's working now. At least I was able to get the input back to the cable box from the DVD. Whew! Dodged a bullet there.
Yesterday I found an electric tea kettle just like the one I recently bought for my other house. It was stuck 'way back on the shelf behind three other models that I didn't like as well. One of them cost $79.99 (allegedly marked down from $160.00). It had a digital read-out, and an infinite number of heat settings. How fancy do you have to be to get some boiled water for tea? It's not like we are running a chemistry lab here.
Of course, true tea drinkers know that black tea should be brewed in hotter water than green tea. Oh? You didn't know that? Neither did I until just now. I don't care that much, I'm just glad this one shuts off automatically when the water is boiling and the carafe is glass so I can see when it's time to de-lime it with some white vinegar.
