Lunar Eclipse

Saturday morning, December 10, 2011, last full lunar eclipse in my area until 2014.

The time isn't good - it's supposed to peak out just as the moon is setting. I'm getting up at 5 am to see what I can see anyway, just in case. One nice thing about living here in the desert is the sky will probably be clear.

Only Alaska and northern most Canada will be able to witness the entire event.

Events like this always excited Jay and we would set the alarm and go up on the roof with a telescope. I think of him every time there is a rare phenomenon and think of how delighted he would be.

We had our Family reunion for that one LOL :)

I do that all the time! It's kind of pathetic, isn't it? My favorite was that Hale-Bopp comet many years ago because it was visible for at least a month, even in the city with all the light pollution.

Seen one, seen 'em all.

Living in Colorado, so many times we'd have an eclipse but the sky would be cloudy, so unlike you, I'm not jaded and cynical about rare astral occurrences.

I was up early (BEFORE THE SUN!) but I didn't see anything... Typical me.

It was so near the horizon when the eclipse started, you'd have to have a clear view, and the sun might have come up by the time there was anything for you to see.

Since we can't see it here I won't get up early--as if I would anyway!!!

I've only see two total eclipses in my lifetime, and didn't get to see this one as a total, but did see the start of it.

I saw a falling star one of the times I went out to look at it. Haven't seen one of those in years.
