Larry, Not Forgotten

I was sad to hear of the passing of our MyBloggers friend Larry Breland, and was sorry we didn't get to say goodbye, but of course, chances are if anything happens to one of us, our families are not going to think to come on MyBloggers and let everyone know.

Yesterday, this letter came:

"I'm sorry I don't know your association with dad. However, I found several letters from you and want to let you know my dad passed away June 16th.

I feel certain you know he was diagnosed with leukemia in March. His prognosis was 3 - 6 months. Dad wasn't really sick during this time though he had some issues going on.

On June 1st Dad walked outside to take pictures of his beautiful flowers. He stepped in a hole, fell and broke his neck. He lived the next twelve days relatively pain free as the natural progression of death began - he passed peacefully."

Isn't that nice?

have to tell you I have a right-wing friend who I greet with a hug and a kiss and I say, "how's my favorite fascist?" and he replies, "I'm great. How's my favorite Bolshevik?"

Sorry, what was his MyBloggers name? I didn't have any contact with him. A few of you have my home phone and I would guess that one of you might call if I disappeared for a long time. And then get the news that I am toast. I'll try not to be toast for a long time. Hope this goes for all of you.

Larry B - he wasn't your cup of tea, Teal - very right-wing religious. He lived in Mississippi, and some of us were looking to him to see if there was anything he could do for Sue. He visited her at least once. He was willing in spirit, but mortality caught up with him.

Blogging has changed some of the dynamics, but it's always sad to lose a friend.

I am glad that it was peaceful and relatively swift. All of us want to
avoid a lengthy illness and a lot of pain.

It's good to hear the details, not that it's our business, but as you say, now we know he went peacefully.

Wow. That is great they took the time to write you.

It certainly was thoughtful, and I didn't expect anything like that, so a nice surprise.

It's trite to say 'closure' but that's what it was for me. I'd sent him a card for his June 6 birthday and never heard back, so now I know why.

I know I should know but what was Larry's username?

LarryB - he didn't post very often, but he visited fairly often.
