Spring Projects

The front porch of our smaller cabin was sagging because the support post had rotted off down in the ground.

Mr. Troutbend used a floor jack to hoist it up while he replaced the post with a pine tree he'd cut down in a thinning operation. There are two temporary supports, the ones with the bark on them, and the new post is in the center.

Here is the front with the old posts, I don't have a photo of the completed repair job yet. It doesn't look much different.

He found some tongue and groove floor boards from an old barn in the attic of the garage so decided to put a new deck on the front porch of the Brown Palace. The boards were something like 16 feet long.

I don't think tongue and groove was entirely appropriate for this application because there needs to be gaps for the snow and rain to escape between the boards, but he did slant it away from the house.

Mr. T looking pretty rustic. Does he shave for Vegas or go in his woodsy guise? You seem pretty laid back about the money thing. But what can one do?

Looking good. I'm still vexed by your "relationship" with Mr. T. Sounds like you have it all figured out!

See that second picture? He just stood there like that staring at it for a long time. I don't know if he was wondering how he could have done it differently, or admiring his work.

I'm tired from all that work--guess that's why I am a city boy!

He's working off some money he owes me - gambled away a few thou before I could move it to a different bank account. I haven't told him this is what is going on, but it's in the back of my mind.

It's funny because I sure don't remember clicking the Submit button twice, or even thinking it needed a second click. Now the two stories are kind of intertwined because your comment for the supermarket story that used to be in this space was posted at 11 am your time, and I edited this to be about projects last night about 1 am your time.

That would suck, having to go through a maze to get stuff and then like you said - if you forgot something??? Eek.

There must have been a lot less different products to pick from back then.
