Holiday

Retirement can mean the days all blend together, and almost every day is a like a holiday, but some days are more holiday than others.

There is a big motorcycle rally in our area this weekend - Thunder in the Rockies, which accurately describes the sound of hundreds of Harley Davidsons and their quieter relatives making their way up the highway towards Estes Park. There were steady streams of traffic this morning, motorcycles, cars, and recreational vehicles.

Me, I sat on the bridge so I could glance up at the highway and keep an eye on the highway while I read a book.

I've learned how to spot the occasional fish hanging out. Here is an easy one to spot:

The other ones that are mid-current are harder to take a picture of. I could just post a picture of the river and tell you there is a fish and you'd have to take my word for it.

Ed is always admonishing me for not knowing what day it is and looking in the mail box on Sunday. I always say, "I'm retired -- I don't have to know what day it is." Your stream is beautiful.

I just looked at your cabin website. I'd really love to make a trip there some day...

Holiday. From Holy Day. I don't consider Labor Day a holy day, but whatever.
And for all the rest of you readers, I've actually been to Ms. Laura's. It's everything she says and shows, and then some!

Leave it to you to drag religion (or non-religion) into it, even with regard to a political holiday.

I am glad you don't take the beautiful scenery for granted and are able
to enjoy it every day.

Wish you were here. Today is a harbinger of winter - high of 69 degrees (down from 80 some yesterday) low tonight 34 degrees. I'm going to cover the garden with bed sheets tonight.

Is that first pic your view??? If so, I am very jealous. Thanks for the picture of the fish. Now we can believe.

Yes, that's the view from the bridge toward the highway, sitting on the bridge. It was a lot of fun watching that fish hanging out where we could see it.

Nice photos. I love the stream that runs by your place. I really must get up for a summer visit soon.

The door's always open. After a summer plentiful with hummingbirds to watch, we're down to just three, and today's chilly weather will probably send them south.
