I finally found the location (long story), but by this time it was hotter than heck out there, no shade, no clouds, probably 90 degrees already. My auction friends were there, and they said the stuff for sale was just junk. Furthermore, the auctioneer was letting people pick through the box lots as if it was a retail store, very time consuming.
So we left to go to an antique store across town and have lunch. Came back to the auction and after two hours they had sold only about 1/4 of what was to be sold. Still hotter than heck, and smart people got umbrellas out of their cars to provide portable shade, even crusty men were sporting dainty floral numbers.
My friends had to get back to Denver, so showed me the two things they wanted in case I would be there when they came up for sale. I did buy one of the items, a Little Debbie snack cake display rack, but the other, a box containing a Lord of the Rings toy, I just couldn't stay for because it was hours away.
Too bad, I was afraid of heat stroke even with a big red and white golf umbrella. So I headed off to do my shopping and get back home. It was definitely 95 degrees in town by that time.
This weekend the local Harley Davidson dealer is holding its annual "Thunder in the Rockies" event with concerts and other attractions for bikers. A good number of them took the opportunity to visit Estes Park, to the west of me, so as I drove home I met hundreds of bikers headed east for town.
But pure bliss, it's 10 degrees cooler up here, and my house is chilly as if I have air conditioning, and the sun was behind some clouds. I stood on the bridge and watched the fish in the river. I'll never roam again.
