The mountain on the right is Longs Peak.

Here is a closer view of the eastern face, and you can see the formation called The Diamond.

Here is a close-up taken from a rescue helicopter picking up an injured climber off the face of the mountain. See that little bit of blue in the upper left hand corner? That's a view of infinity, so I'm guessing this close up is of the part just to the right of that notch.

It makes me dizzy to think about being up there and not able to get down.

Why oh why must climbers be so daring and cost us all that money for rescue? I guess they have to climb the mountain because it is there.

A tamer version of 'because it's there' is to go out in the country and take roads you've never been on just to see where they end up.

The closest one of the rock face is really something to me because we see the mountains from afar all the time, but seldom get these good shots.

Usually we hear a lot about how the rescued folks should be sent a bill, but there hasn't been mention of that this year, and I'm not sure why not.
