We took her to Wal-Mart and used her Christmas gift cards to buy warm clothes she's been wanting to get before the spring clothes are put out. She found a warm winter coat with removable liner that can be worn by itself as a quilted jacket for $23 marked down from $50. It's hard for her to get to the store on her own to use her gift cards and her family has threatened to stop sending them if she's not going to use them.
Here is the birthday cake I made for her, chocolate is her favorite.

Then, after her nap, we bowled on the Wii for hours, and finally the day was over. Back at her apartment we hooked up her old VCR and hopefully set it to record The Price is Right on weekdays, installed the new lampshade we found at the Goodwill for $1.25, and Betsy gave me a big hug and Thank You, the first of each ever.
