Favorite Costumes

Someone just sent me another one of those emails with a bunch of new-to-me dog costumes.

This one made me laugh out loud:

I thought this was very clever:

People say this is pet torture. I think if it was really torture for them, they would not be standing there in a costume getting their picture taken, they would be using their feet to rub off the costume, rubbing their head along the carpet, or crouching down and refusing to walk around.

Well, I agree Laura. We couldn't even put a doggie jacket on our dog. He would throw a fit until he got out of it.

Even some small children resist wearing certain clothing. Same thing.

Whatever. (That's all I can think of saying.)

I know if you had a dog you would never dress it up.

I loved the golden retriever in the duck costume but please note his tail
was down and I think he had mixed emotions. I am going to make a lion's ruff
for Rex next year.

Rex is such a king of dogs, he doesn't need a costume, but if he wants to look like a lion, it'd be fun to see it.

Benny has winter coats for hiking, my ex used to sew them. He'd let us put them on him then run to the door knowing that he was going to get to test it out in the real world! I don't believe there's anything wrong with costumes as long as the pet goes for it.

That's a good point - people think they are doing their dog a favor by putting a warm coat on him, so to the dog a costume is a lot like a coat. With a funny hat.

Some people are so freakin creative I love it!

Aren't they? That's one of the things I miss about working - the last company I worked at made a big deal of Halloween, and a few people were so clever we couldn't wait to see their costumes.

I suspect a lot of these pets are dressed up only as long as it takes to snap the picture.

Could be. But that cat has the wisdom of the ages in its eyes, and I get the feeling he'd never take off the headdress.

Sorry, dogs are dogs not people who don't mind looking ridiculous!!!!

I don't know. People put bandanas on their dogs all the time, and the dogs act happy about it.
