More Deer

We've seen the female mule deer several times, and today a buck showed up.

These are the first deer we've seen here all year. The drought is changing their range, and we think last year the mountain lion was in the area so they moved away for awhile.

I was England in the 80s and visited the Sackville-West estate where they have tame deer. I have a photo of myself feeding one by hand.

I've seen pictures of someone who has a whole herd of deer that come around to be fed. After my experience with the fox, having to come up with something to feed him, I don't think I'd want a bunch of deer like that. It's okay if they come and eat a bush or something.

I've really missed seeing the deer this year, so am happy to see them.

Maybe he was looking for ripe tomatoes and zucchini!

I'm sure he was: our precious tomatoes, our beloved squash.

The prettiest deer we've seen here in a very long time.

When I was a kid(yes I was once) and wished for the day, week, month or year to be over, my Mom would tell me to quit wishing my life away.

I used to think about that when I had a job - couldn't wait for the workweek to end, but at the same time I realized I was only seeing the little picture.

I love seeing deer here. It's so cool even though they run away pretty quickly!
comment by kristilyn3 on July 19, 2012 10:59 AM ()
The slightest movement and they are gone, except the doe that has been coming around.

He is a magnificent animal and much prettier than his wife.

I hope we see him again, and any babies there might be.

A goose, a fox and a deer--word about your friendliness most be spreading except I think a rat or a squirrel may be saying "She ain't that great!"

I know those ingrate mice don't appreciate the free swimming lessons in the beautiful river that I provide for them.

I'm not sure what the hot, dry weather has to do with it, but something for sure. I will be glad when this year is over, it has been a strange one from the get-go. However, I need to be careful what I wish for, because what if we don't go back to the more usual weather, but keep going in the other direction?

Maybe the fox told them about your dinner rolls.
comment by maggie on July 18, 2012 9:49 PM ()
Definitely a possibility. Speaking of dinner rolls, I need to bake some today because the fox is due for a visit.
