Christmas Lights

We completed our outdoor Christmas light display last night. Ours is the house on the right.

This wasn't our original idea, I read about it somewhere.

Me being totally understated [oh okaaaay bloody lazy] I adore your house...

Speaking of lazy, for the first couple years we lived here Mr. Tbend put blue icicle lights along the garage, but because the neighbors to the west don't do any decorations at all, now he just puts one of those candle things (blue and green lights) in the upstairs bedroom window.

I'm glad we don't live next to any of those Griswold houses. The traffic alone would be very distracting.

I used to love to decorate our house. One year I did all running lights on the house and the driveway. When Holly arrived home from college for the holidays that year, she walked in and asked, "Where's Wayne?"

"What do you mean," I asked.

"I could have sworn I was in Las Vegas when I drove up," she said. "So, I just assumed Wayne Newton must be here somewhere."

Speaking of Wayne, he got permission to turn his house into a museum. The neighbors are not happy.

It's one of those 'why didn't I think of that' things. Next year every house (make that every OTHER house) will have one, and we'll see that Ditto sign on sale at Wal-Mart.

One of my life goals is to hang white icicle lights on my smallest red cabin in Colorado and get a picture of it with lots of snow on the roof. It'd be quite a project that we'd have to get started on in the summer, and then I'd have to sit and wait for it to snow. I'm thinking 2011 is the year I'm going to finally do it, have put it on my list of projects.

You just missed the 29,000 marathon runners dressed as Santa running south on the Las Vegas Strip.

we just have candles in the window.(a song)wreath on the front door.
No tree,no light inside, just glowing candle.Christmas is very depressing to me.But will get over it.You did great there.Lot of energy in putting this together.

This year is more exciting for me because I found a second cousin here in town who I hadn't seen for 50 years. She is single and lives near us, and I'm having a good time helping her sister from out of state make sure she has a nice Christmas.

Don't know if we'll have any outdoor lights this year. DH is suffering with a terrible cold and I refuse to put up lights in the Winter.

That is great...

You did a lovely job. We don't do lights, what with Ed being a curmudgeon, but I enjoy the displays on some of the more elaborately decorated houses.

The yards here are so small some people appear to chafe at the size restriction. They cram yard decorations everywhere they can, and then put some more up on the roof. Yes, inflatable snow globe on the roof next to to an inflatable Santa merry-go-round. Someone in our neighborhood has one of those electric transformer boxes in their front yard like we do, and they wrapped it in Mickey Mouse gift wrap and draped lights over it. I told Mr. Tbend about it, and I can tell he's afraid I want to do it at our house.
