That is so cool! What a fun surprise! I am glad you had a great adventure.
The special effects were definitely a leap above the original. It also provided a lot more depth to the storyline, which sort of reflects how video games have developed that same sort of depth over the games of the 1980s.
That is so sad. I think one of the really bad things about Isaac is that he is moving so slowly, which means he is goign to dump a ton of water on the areas he passes.
I haven't done any rock climbing ... I am probably too klutzy for it to be a good idea. I have done some mounting climbing that is a little more advanced than hiking, but by no means perpendicular in nature. It was a lot of fun.
I love trying new foods and cooking styles. It is fun to experiment and see other possibilties (at least for me). I could never totally give up meat totally, but I like veggies enough to have meals that don't necessarily have meat as part of them.

Milo is adorable! He looks like he is well loved! We have some amazing hiking trails at the library where I work. We are in a former monastery, and the town hs protected the grounds in perpetuity so it is like working in a huge park with trees and fields and everything. I guess over the years, paths have been worn into the area. I bet both you and Milo would love walking the trails if you were in the area. My previous position as a librarian was as a teen specialist, and your situation with forgetting to check in is so common. I know that it is probably more worrisome because of your past situation. Your mom probably was pissed, but I bet she was also thrilled ot know that you were safe in the end.
The good news is that Isaac seems like there is going to have a near miss. I know that you guys will be on the wetter side of him, though, so hopefully, you won't have to worry too much about flooding.

It is really interesting to see how quickly television and film has sped up the pacing of plotlines. A lot of shows/movies from the 70s and 80s seem to feel so slow now. I remember seeing Tron when it came out and thinking it was so cool. You are right ... now it is pretty basic in the area of technology.
What an amazing place to have a picnic. I so appreciate your sharing your adventures with us like that. It has been ages since I last went on a real picnic. We used to do it a lot at the Roger Williams Park & Zoo in Providence. I could probably have a great one on the grounds of my library, which is filled with great hiking trails.
It is scary to see what is up with Isaac. Hopefully, he will stay mild (sub-hurricane) and avoid you and Martin! You should definitely get your symptoms checked. I am not sure what they imply, but it can be helpful to get it sorted out.
Getting through a renovation is never easy. Besides the strangers, it is also tough having to live out of boxes and such.
