Tree Down

Sitting at my desk yesterday I noticed our recent gusty winds (maybe 80 miles per hour) had knocked down a tree behind the cabin next door.

It didn't threaten the power lines or any structures.

Look at the root end - it grew on rocks, so there isn't much root structure. It's a wonder it lived as long as it did.

The downed tree blends in so well I thought it could have been down for a long time and I hadn't noticed it, so I found a 'before' picture.

I know: you're looking at this picture and asking 'what am I looking for?' There are two tree trunks in the upper right-hand corner of the picture, and the one on the left is the one that just blew over.

I can see why the fox is paranoid about the wind. It is a shame it did all
that damage. We need to get our pecan trees trimmed before they do
something we don't like.

The drywall guy told me he's seen elk out standing in a wind storm, and they acted the same. I guess all the wild animals learn to be careful in it.

Whew! I said what I said because I thought you would take it in the vein I meant it to be. Just having some fun. I didn't mean any harm. (Didn't you notice my "wink"?) I LOVE your posts. If I didn't, I wouldn't read all three "religiously". You have so many diverse things. I'm really sorry to have upset you. It upsets me greatly. I thought you knew me better. I'm to be taken with a grain of salt.

I think I'll go out and take a picture of a Brussels sprout plant that blew over! (I'm getting to sound more like Martin all the time, aren't I?!)

I personally think a 30 foot tree blowing over in high winds that cut off power to 3000 people and closed down parts of Rocky Mountain National Park is of general interest.

I was thinking of that today - you regale us with your daily minutia and deep thoughts, but then you pick on me and claim I'm boring everyone with what's going on in my life. You need to get that particular bee out of your bonnet because I think at least some of the other bloggers find my posts interesting, and if they don't, at least they don't make an issue of it.

I'm looking forward to going up there next summer to see if we can push it down.

No wonder the fox is paranoid when the wind blows.
