Saturday is Super Moon

The full moon this coming Saturday night is due to be 16% brighter than average because the moon is going to be nearer the earth than usual.

Living down in this river valley like I do, my sky isn't very large, but I plan to get out there and admire the brightness of the moon for the amount of time it's visible here.

Aside from the usual crazy stuff that people get up to and blame it on the full moon, the ocean tides will be higher and lower than usual because the moon will exert 42% more tidal force at its perigee tomorrow night than it will at its next apogee in a couple of weeks.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to this. Now we've had other moons to think about.

I hope I remember to go out at 1037. It will probably be shining in my bedroom window later if I forget.

Up here, without street lights, the full moon is so bright, super moon or not. When we had minks here one year they would catch fish during the full moon and leave them in the yard.

I love the full moon and will enjoy it in my back yard.

There is something so special about the full moon, and I don't mean in a crazy way.

Cinco de Mayo - I'm going to have to cook something Mexican to celebrate. I fed all my corn tortillas to the ravens so might have to make some from scratch.

I'll see it from The Point at Karen Bay where I go every evening around 11-11:30

Sounds great. I wish I could see the horizon from here, to see it rising.
