Oh Boy, a Prize!

I get the AARP newsletter on line. They have a "makeover" contest they are currently running. The winner in a random drawing gets the following:

Prizes and Odds: One (1) Grand Prize Winner will receive a Beauty Makeover. Grand Prize package includes roundtrip airfare for the Grand Prize Winner from the major airport nearest to his or her home to Minneapolis, Minnesota; one night’s hotel accommodations in Minneapolis at a hotel selected by Sponsor; one hair and makeup session with The Makeover Guy, Christopher Hopkins, at his Minneapolis salon; and a small stipend for meals and transportation costs while in Minneapolis. Approximate retail value of the Grand Prize package is $1,500. Actual value may vary depending on location of major airport nearest to winner’s home, travel itinerary, and costs of air transportation at time of award. All other expenses not specified above as part of prize package are the sole responsibility of the winner.

Well, I entered, why not. It is a measure of how uninvolving my daily routine is (except for piano practice) that I am willing to travel to Minneapolis to break the monotony of Paradise.

You have to be over 50. Well, unfortunately, I qualify. Oh, s@#$%$. It's come to that, has it, little girl?

Of course I may not win. Actually second prize, a $500 gift certificate to Macy's is in many ways, more appealing. Couldn't they make it $1500? I have my eyes on a leather sofa and loveseat. Great bargains out there for anyone with any mad money left.

What can a makeover do for me anyway? My hair's limitations are major. It is short, I won't allow a perm. I color it. Maybe they can do a better, cut, color? I doubt it. My make-up is reasonably perfected after years of paying attention. Their work is cut out for them, I'll vouchsafe. More on this if I win. Oh, ha ha ha ha.

xx, Teal
