Yes, but was it the Vichy government that so honored him? I'll try to get more info.

I didn't get a perverse feeling from the song. Loved the movie even if it is dated now, but I still watch it when it is shown. Meanwhile, my husband has told me that Chevalier was a Nazi collaborator. Kind of ruins the charm for me.

So much to remember. I think it's time to get into bed and pull covers up over head.

Thanks for news about Jeri. I usually take a huge Greek salad to parties and such.

Okay, I voted. What's on the menu? Have you started cooking?

It's frightening and such a contrast to my young school years. We certainly had problem students, but they weren't so bold. And I went to an inner city school with a large black student body. Actually, because I was smart in class, black kids would chase me home. I was fast, I diverted into a church where I had gone to Girl Scout meetings. I learned they thought I lived there. I did not develop racism because of these events. In some way, I understood they were at a disadvantage which did not translate into me thinking I wasn't at risk. We were all scheduled to graduate to the same high school. I reasoned that they would be worse as they grew older. So I avoided them by getting a permit to an out of district high school and I got to live.

What a lovely story, almost a fairy tale.

Netflix, Youtube, Amazon, have a lot of choices and you can choose a TV series you missed when it was on and watch all episodes. We saw the entire series of Agatha Christie's Poirot series. It was great. He dies in the last episode. I wasn't expecting that. There are still some good programs on a few times a week that I like to watch: Madame Secretary, The Good Wife, the original NCIS (even though I miss the Ziva David character a lot), and, of course, late night with Stephen Colbert, and once a week, Bill Maher, and there's always MSNBC for skewed political news, but it's skewed in my direction so I don't vomit.
