Our Jeri

I'm not much of a telephone person, but when I found out Jeri's eye is bothering her too much to use the computer, I decided to give her a call and get our daily news fix that way.

Her eye has been bothering her, and one doctor told her she had makeup in it, and to do a better job washing her face at night. When it didn't get better, she went to another doctor who said she has a fever blister in her eye and she's got anti-viral eye drops. Not only is it painful, she is bored to distraction because she can't see to read, watch TV, or use the computer. Of all the things that can go wrong with our health, vision problems is one of the most worrisome.

Our canyon association potluck is coming up next Wednesday and I have to think of something to take. The last couple times I wasn't happy with the outcome of the recipes I tried. One was a noodle casserole that was really bland, and the next time was fried chicken that I didn't think was very good. This time I'm going to do vegetables, less to go wrong.

Oh, I'm glad she saw a 2nd doctor. Eyes are so delicate and any problem with them can be maddening. But eye doctoring is pretty amazing these days. About food, vegetables sound good; I had a thing about garlic and sea salt on asparagus or green beans, but it was overwhelming for some. My sister said garlic comes through her pores and she doesn't want patients to smell it on her. So I had to bring just stuff with sea salt & olive oil.

I usually bring butternut squash and apple casserole to camp "eatin' meetin's". Of course it's in season in the fall so others are bringing squash soup etc. But the casserole has brown sugar an butter so it's popular.

Jeri loves reading a good book and I doubt that even recorded text would satisfy her although it is available. I suppose many people are most concerned about vision, but I find breathing issues much more scary. Not being able to walk across a room, or even worse, having a stroke and not being able to move at all.... Nope, I think I'd prefer it be fatal.

Thanks for news about Jeri. I usually take a huge Greek salad to parties and such.
