Tuesday –
On the news this morning, John McCain explained that because of Sotomayor’s “judicial philosophy,†he would vote against her confirmation. Even conservative news analyst Joe Scarborough was surprised.
This only proves that whatever sentience McCain started out with, is going down the drain. It is my firm belief that he is in the beginning stages of Alzheimer's, a conclusion I reached during the campaign.
McCain fluctuates between moral sincerity and self-serving choices, a weird and fluctuating combination of integrity and moral corruption. He abandoned his first wife after she was disfigured in an auto accident. She was quoted as saying he wanted to start over with someone younger.
He wanted Joe Lieberman as his vice presidential running mate, a good choice (particularly considering what he wound up with and he is still defending her) but was screamed down by the right wing of the Republican party. With Lieberman as his running mate, the race might have been closer.
McCain’s latest decision to vote against a highly qualified addition to the Supreme Court, who would bring to it a much needed diversity, is only the latest example of his lack of character when it counts.
